SHEK Gathering & Sleepover
I am glad that this event finally took place after four years. SHEK had our customary trip to the East Coast Park beach.
What things haven't changed even though four years have passed:
1) We still play uno, rollerblade and cycle: Kim cycled and I rollerbladed to the Bedok Jetty. It was such a tiring trip as there were many slopes including an especially steep one near a lagoon on the way back. It was quite fun rolling down it though and I was good enough to not fall on my backside! And to everyone who thinks I can't cycle --> I CAN CYCLE!! (since 2004)
2) McDonald's and 711 are still around.
3) We have fun :), get tanned :) and get awfully sweaty :(.
Things that changed:
1) There are many ships in the international waters off the beach. Last time there weren't quite as many.
2) NDP rehearsal brought us some mini helicopter show. There was even one helicopter that was carrying the Singapore flag.
3) There is a lagoon near to the hawker centre for people to do water skiing.
4) The area has become more developed (addition of Burger King, more bike rental shops e.t.c.)
We ventured to Parkway Parade for dinner and walked pass the Marine Parade housing estate. Did I just see cheap food for $2.50 per plate? We had dinner @ the new foodcourt in Parkway Parade and I finally got to eat Mee Rebus (I think it has been 10 years since I had it). Kim and I had bubble tea afterwards. I love bubble tea....but not the one at Grace's.
After reaching Kim's house, we chatted till 5am, and watched 200 pound beauty + the ending part of Koma (救命). The first movie was lighthearted while the second was extremely disturbing. I can't believe that Kim has the entire collection of yearbooks displayed systematically in her book shelf. Haiz..I dunno where mine are...probably shelved away somewhere by mum. This is what happens to you when you have to share a room with someone else.
I got a new black renoma leather wallet :). Thank you HEK, you will see me using it soon!
We woke up at 11am. Haha most of us woke up much earlier but went back to sleep anyway because we kept thinking it was still early as the sky was overcast. It was nice to catch up with everyone and talk about the really funny things that happened in the past. Some people whom we know have changed for sure, but I think the members of SHEK have not changed fundamentally. We are probably almost the same as a few years ago, except we are wiser and we keep thinking that we are old. Cheer up gals, we are in our early twenties, which is still considered as quite young!
