Happy New Year...Wishing U a GREAT 2005!
Reflections on 2004
The year is approaching an end and it is time to reflect on what I have done/learnt throughout 2004. Of course it could be anything particularly memorable, funny, poignant, enriching etcetc.
The 1-10s of 2004:
#1 time that I changed my decisions about my major and decided to overload.
#2 times I saw naked men (once on Toronto Island and once in the guy’s locker room oopsy!)
#3 is the number of times I have appeared on a newspaper/magazine (sometimes for trivial things); also the number of friends I hosted @ Duke.
#4 times I traveled during school breaks; also the number of times I took to pass my driving test.
#5 is the number of cities in China I visited this year.
#6 is the number of pounds I lost then subsequently gained back :(
#7 times I had problems with my laptop and was thrown into utter panic (esp during the week when all essays were due)
#8 American cities/towns I’ve been to this year – Boston, Philly, NYC, Niagara Falls ON, Niagara Falls NY, Toronto, Washington DC, Princeton, Raleigh
#9 is the number of times I have touched the piano (oh no, it used to be every day…I’d better do something about it!)
#10 the approx number of weeks I spent in Singapore this year.
Reflections on Fall ‘04
Hectic yes…very. I realize time passes so much faster when you’re damn busy and you are not that free to get worried over the slightest things. However, you probably end up worrying about your grades a lot. I’m the sort who just cannot overload…if I do, I will be exchanging quality for quantity.
I had a lot of fun too. Looking back, everything seems to have passed me in a whirlwind. I don’t know how I managed to find so much time to go for parties and hang out with friends. Maybe its cuz I decided that I needed a break there and then and would just go relax even though I had a load of work undone. That was probably the thing that was keeping me sane throughout the whole semester.
Although I didn’t do that well for the headachy leadership course, I’ve learnt a lot and was made to increase my interactions with Americans for group works and even in class. I guess this is the first time I have been exposed to such interactions and I am just glad that I decided to take the Markets and Management Certificate Program after all. If not I’d just be taking boring old Econ classes where I’d be hiding in the corner with my notebook and fervently taking class notes or dozing off =P.
Resolutions for the New Year 2005
1. Be more focused: tend to get carried away by obsessions
2. Read more useful books. I’ve effectively switched to non-fiction but need to keep my interest level up. When will I be able to finish the Warren Buffett book?
3. Continue exercising. I am seeing some results, as long as I don’t overeat, everything will be fine!
4. Work hard on grad school applications. Eh…wasn’t I just a freshman last year? Things move kinda fast!
5. Try to overcome fears of speaking in class (or is it because I didn’t do my readings properly before class?)
