Yesterday’s interview didn’t go too badly. I got asked the usual questions that I expected but I’m not so clear about my attachment and job opportunities in PUB, since I’ve been studying at Duke all the while. The photographer took like 20 shots of me…maybe I was too tense PLUS there wasn’t exactly a very scenic spot for a photo pose so we had to make do with the entrance of Singapore Power Building. Alright…I admit. The building I work at now is pretty crummy. From what I’ve noticed so far, there are few windows and my desk area, though spacious, is claustrophobic! The bigger shots get offices with windows, smaller shots get boarded up mini offices that have windows, even smaller shots get mini offices without windows and people like me get desks (like the teacher’s staff room). I’m not grumbling though. I think they’re treating me very well as an intern. I have a PC (and previously a laptop) all to myself so that I can do research in peace and… NO OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES!! I have a presentation to make to the CEO though and that is due Jan5th. Probably nothing to be afraid about. The CEO is a genial man, not some scary scary person who will sack you if you get a nervous attack during the presentation.

Office life doesn’t seem horribly stressful. Granted there are bottlenecks but not as many as other professions I guess. People usually leave by 6 and pretty on the dot. Maybe this is a government job so there is a different stress level involved/type of stress. There are ongoing projects and stuff and there is a lot of planning in this department I work at. Sudden thought…planning reminds me of myself… right? This is what I’m good at (though I should have an incentive first) so perhaps I’ll just request to be transferred into this department. Or maybe not…what about finance?

I am still running 2km every day. Kind of look forward to it already dunno why leh, it seems to freshen me up although I end up feeling sleepy right after lunch hour.
