FINALS ARE OVER...Singapore here I come!
YAY! Finals are over. I can go rest in peace.
Last week was hell lah. I mean I was on a working marathon lor. I did FOUR all-nighters in the study room cuz my room was freezing cold. It was real crazy sleeping from 7-9am and not sleeping the whole of the next day. Can imagine zombiefied Swee San walking around right..HAHA
Anyway that phase is over so I'm back to my relatively good mood. Public Policy exam had a couple of ughhhh MCQ questions but the rest was fine so I dunno how I'd fare in the end.
My stuff is packed and Singapore beckons. I wanna go home and the first thing I will do is sleep sleep sleep and eat eat eat. Oh dear....isn't that a pig lifestyle?
OKAY..here's full coverage of...THANKSGIVING BREAK (albeit late but better late than never)
24th Nov
Busy day for me. I had to go to Chapel Hill to interview Dr Charles Saunders (ex CEO of GlaxoSmithKline) for my project on NC Biotechnology. Talk Talk Talk Talk, copy copy copy copy. That took place at 9AM. The grad student Kelvin was nice enough to drive me over to Chapel Hill which is 30min drive away from Duke campus.
At about 1pm Kim, Yingmin and I set off for Krogers for groceries and found out that Qiuwei's flight was running late. It was ridiculous actually. First there was an announcement that the plane was there but the crew was in atlanta, then another announcement of some crap thing which probably only crops up when companies are going bankrupt. We then went to the Asian market cuz Kim and YM were cooking dishes for Thanksgiving dinner.
Managed to fetch Qiuwei at about 530pm due to the Thanksgiving traffic jam that was building up at the airport. We even went past her once cuz we didn't know which terminal she was at.
Qiuwei, Me, Chiat in order of ascending height
We hanged around Graces for Chinese food, got back, chatted a bit and watched My Sassy Girl. The movie is so sweet lor...but then hor, not too realistic unless it is fate? HMMMZ...
25th NOV
I cooked fried noodles for everyone's brunch. HEhe it's rare that I get to mess around in the kitchen. Later, Chiat and I took Qiuwei around Sarah P Duke Gardens (which is huge)as well as around the campus. Of course the Duke Gardens never ceases to amaze vistors with its beauty. It's so pretty at every time of the year...minus winter of course when the trees are bare.

A really nice pic of area around my dorm
Somehow we ended up at Eden Dorms. These dorms are real ulu...situated the furthest away from the center of student activity. The dorms are pretty though, and we flocked to the commmons room with the grand piano only to find it locked!!!Had to make do with this really old upright piano.
Then we got tired and went back into the room...talktalktalk with Qiuwei and everyone was feeling super sleepy.
Dinner@Kilgo...yummy Chinese food cooked by Kim and YM. They are great cooks...tens of times better than me hehe. We had: pineapple fried rice, char siew, wanton mee, pork ribs, some nice nice stew, curry chicken and agar for dessert.
After pigging out, most stayed to play mahjong, watch TV and socialize. I mean I had tons of work to complete but this thanksgiving has become a time to literally take time off for a break.
26th Nov
Got up real early to make French Toast for Qiuwei..yummy then we sent her off and back to good ole philly. Nice relaxing Thanksgiving break. Seems better than chionging through a place in attempt to complete your whole travel itinerary!

Contact me through email if you wanna meet up and there's always my handphone to call if you need to contact me at short notice.
