Harbourfront and the Crazy Handphone Search

Ever since I touched down in Singapore, I have been on a search for a good handphone. However, most of you know that I am a great value seeker and won't spend $1000 for a good pda phone. I had US$150 leftover from my refund of my darling Palm Tungsten E2. A trip to the giant Singtel shop @ Somerset MRT told me that my budget was too low and I upped it to S$500. I had many options: Dopod 818, Nokia E61i, O2 Atom Executive, Nokia E65, Nokia N80, hp 6828. 简直是看到眼花缭乱! I think I'll go google them later.I really liked the E61i but the major thing that put me off was the lack of a stylus. How do you survive without a stylus? I think not having one will slow a person down!

I now recognize how important the concepts of Markstrat are when applied to the real world. You can't have a kickass product and sell it for peanuts. It is virtually impossible to find a S$200 phone that is a pda, phone, camera, that allows you to edit documents, view powerpoints, listen to mp3s e.t.c. Actually I did find one phone but it sure is ugly and requires an odd memory card. Heard of the Sony P910i which is going for S$198 @ Singtel? I am not too sold on the flip out key pad. It makes the phone look clunky.

Harbourfront Centre is really big. The part near the MRT looks deceptively small but it actually is some kind of triangular shape so you can't see the whole mall from one corner. The view of Sentosa and Mt Faber is also marvellous :) Mum and I ate Bak Kut Teh @ the food court...wah so expensive $6!!! Food prices have really gone up these 9 months I was not around. One day I suspect Singapore prices are going to overtake that of the US...not to mention our GST hike. Now we are about 1.5% less than the California state tax rate. Will our tax rate reach 10%...why is no one complaining????!!!! Singaporeans ah...most only know how to live their materialistic lives and not care about politics and social welfare...let the govt run it, since they run it so efficiently right? I reserve my comments on this issue.
