Unbelievably Good Service from United Airlines
United Airlines is not exactly known for its good service - actually bad service, frowning agents, and old and fat stewardesses (of course not all of them). Thus, I was really surprised to receive excellent service from the check in counter. I was checked in on a different SFO-NRT flight as my parents but on the same NRT-SIN flight, and since we had bought tickets at different times, we didn't get seats together. This agent at the check in counter was not only polite but, took the time and effort to get me on the same flight as my parents, put us in seats near to each other, and upgraded my parents into economy plus for NRT-SIN so they did not have to be squashed like sardines at the back of the plane. On top of that, she shut one eye to two of my bags which were 3 pounds and 5 pounds overweight. It not, I would have had to pay about US$110 more.
Unfortunately, I got "downgraded" for the longer SFO-NRT leg because there was only one middle seat left in economy plus, whereas I got an aisle seat in the economy section. I spent 10 hours there, beside some stranger (who was wearing a mask I wonder why), counting down the hours. I slept for a long time and found out that only two hours had passed :(. I cannot believe a plane that is meant to fly such a long distance does not have a personal TV screens. As I was sitting right at the back of the plane, I could not see ANY of the projector screens nor the tiny TV screen suspended from the ceiling. Ironically, on the NRT-SIN leg, there were personal screens. Isn't it more important to provide more comfort for people flying 10hours rather than 6 hours?
