Summer school @ Duke

2 courses in 6 weeks...super compressed...homework almost everyday...stress level=high. THIS is Duke Summer school in session.
However, things are not so bad lah. We have our fair share of summer entertainment -- the Duke Gardens are so luxuriant and beautiful with cute ducks+ducklings swimming in the many ponds, living on central is great: flexibility, lax alcohol policies (no RAs), attached toilets, swimming in the central pool,COOKING!
I must really elaborate on my two new passions in life...alcohol and cooking. Since, there's no compulsary meal plan for summer school, most people just buy from the grocery store and whip up their own meal. Being Asians, of course we do not even attempt to make instant pasta, pizza, soup etc. Most stuff are instant noodles prepared in veg soup, or rice and veg and meat. It's so much better than the Marketplace food and probably cheaper=D. I hope I am mastering some cooking skills...usually TY (my Malaysian apt mate) does the cooking on wkends while Jeremy and I somehow manage to prepare simple meals on wkdays.
We had an alcohol party last Friday. My first one since coming to Duke. Thanks to Ian's blender, we made exotics drinks like Pina Colada (with rum lah), Barcardi Lime , Bailey's with Ice cream and some pineapple-orange juice-vodka concoction by TY. I could feel my head throbbing by my fourth cup and felt tired. I doubt I was in any way tipsy, much less drunk...just very very tired... We sang loudly (prob disturbing downstairs neighbours)...it was so great...should have more of these in Duke. Screw that 21 yr old alcohol policy.
